Artist Application: Black History Month

The Santa Barbara Public Library seeks local artists to plan Black history-themed youth art activities for the community. This year, Black History Month programming will include a family event with a public art-making opportunity for all ages, a school age art or maker activity, and a preschool art activity. Library staff will assist with formatting, guidelines, and translation of instructions for all three activities. The goal of the program is to engage youth and families from all backgrounds with the rich history and culture of the Black community.

Submitting artist’s name (first and last). Teams should include the name of their group (if applicable), and the names of all participating artists.

List of all the materials needed for the activity.

Learning objectives and the output participants will have created by completing the project.

Description of the artist’s teaching experience and qualifications, if any.

Description of the artist’s background and knowledge of Black history and culture. Artists should state whether or not they identify as part of the Black community.
