Volunteers working under the direction of Library's staff provide services that enhance children's programs. To ensure that there are no misunderstandings between volunteers, staff, and patrons, the following guidelines apply to all volunteers:

I will not touch children or teens.
I will not walk with children or teens anywhere outside of the Library.
I will not meet, visit, or make arrangements with children or teens outside of the Library.
I will not accept or exchange phone numbers, email addresses, or other personal information with children or teens. I understand that personal information is only to be communicated to the guardians.
I will not discuss personal, religious, or sexaul matters with children or teens.
I will not give gifts or food to children or teens.
I will show any non-Library materials to a Library staff member before using or presenting them to children or teens.
I will only communicate with children or teens virtually or in the Library during my scheduled session.
I will refer any problems or issues with children or teens directly to a Library staff person immediately.
I will consult with the onsite Library supervisor for any additional rules and guidelines.

As a volunteer tutor, I agree to abide by the above rules. I have read and understood them. I also understand that failure to comply with any of the above rules will result in my immediate dismissal from the SBPL volunteer program.
